RITES HELD FOR ARBIE HECKMANN

Arbie William Heckmann was born June 2, 1907 on the Heckmann farm near Postville, the son of Louis and Minnie Muchow Heckmann. He passed away suddenly from a heart attack at 7 a.m. on June 7 at his farm home.

He was married to Inez Steiert on December 4, 1929 at Monona. To this union were born 13 children, all who survive. They are: Mrs. Floyd E. (Jean) Schultz of Lake Mills, Wisconsin; S/Sgt. Donald Heckmann of Fort Worth, Texas; Mrs. Irey (Ann) Rose of New Hampton; John of Miles, Iowa; Zeta Cowell of Cedar Rapids; Neal of Oelwein; Mrs. David (Twila) Haviland of Des Moines; Vicky, Robert, Gary, Leslie, Stanley and Allan, all of Postville.

The deceased was a farmer and interior decorator. He spent all of his life in the Postville area with the exception of two years in Monona. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville; served as assessor for Post and Franklin townships for 11 years; was a director of the Postville Farmers Telephone Co., served on the board of the Post township Fire district; and was a township trustee of Post.

Survivors other than his children include two sisters, Mrs. George Kinsel of Indepedence (sic) and Lorena Heckmann of Postville; 12 grandchildren; in addition to several relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Services were held Friday, June 10, 2:00 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, the Rev. Lenwood Monte, in charge. Burial was in the Postville cemetery. [Section F]
