Mrs. Emily Mugge
Mrs. Emily Mugge was born January 19, 1870 at Kellogg, Iowa and departed this life on March 22, 1964 at the Good Samaritan Home in Waukon, Iowa. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert N. Spencer of Des Moines, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Harry H. Mugge on April 15,1896 in Des Moines, Iowa. Five children blessed this marriage, four of them living. They are Mrs. Mildred Kehr of Lansing, Iowa; Mrs. Marjorie Stover of West Point, Nebraska; Mr. Clarence Mugge of Peoria, Illinois, and Mr. Lester H. Mugge of Des Moines, Iowa. Mrs. Mugge was preceded in death by her husband who passed away December 1, 1936 and a son Charles who died in infancy. She also had two sisters. She is survived by eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
Mrs. Mugge was a member of Central Presbyterian Church of Des Moines, Iowa, The Eastern Star, The King’s Daughters, the P.T.A., and a fifty year member of the Presbyterian Women’ s Association. She was a faithful church member and active in the worship of the church. She taught an adult Sunday School Class for many years.
About 15 years ago her sight and hearing became impaired and since that time she made her home at Lansing, Iowa. She fell on March 21, 1961 and broke her hip. After fifty days in the hospital she was moved to the Good Samaritan Home in Waukon where she received wonderful care until she died. She enjoyed the visits of the Rev. Mr. Leonard and of the Rev. Mr. Tjaden very much as well as the visits of her relatives and friends. She had many friends among the nurses and fellow residents in the Home. Mrs. Mugge had a wonderful memory and because of her sincerity and wisdom was an inspiration to all who knew her.
The funeral service will be held on March 25th at Central Presbyterian Church in Des Moines, Iowa at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Mr. Arthur Cruikshank will officiate.
