Rites Held for Don E. Lamborn

Funeral services were held on Wednesday of last week, 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Luana for Don E. Lamborn, who passed away August 14. The Rev. E. W. Hilmer was in charge of the rites; burial was in the Luana cemetery.

Don E. Lamborn was born in Franklin township, Allamakee county, March 9, 1890, the son of Elba B. and Mary Vankirk Lamborn. He passed away at the Postville Hospital August 16, 1960, at the age of 70 years, five months and five days.

After finishing the rural school he attended the Waukon Business college in Waukon. But he followed the profession of farming as long as his health permitted, living on the farm purchased by his grandfather from the government in 1855 and farmed by his grandfather and his father before him. He was active until his hospitalization on August 4, although slowed down for four and a half years by a heart condition. He was active in his community, serving as school director, township clerk and trustee for many years.

On January 27, 1913 he and Libbie M. Clark were united in marriage in Waukon, and to this union were born three children. Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, brother, and a grandaughter.

He is survived by his wife; by three children, Ione (Mrs. Charles Ziegler) of Hardin, Donald of near Postville, and Lloyd of near Luana, by a sister, Mrs. Edmund Shella of Jasper, Minnesota; by six grandchildren, David, Linda, Larry, Nola, Noreen and Lisa Lamborn; and by other more distant relatives and a large number of friends.
