Felicia Grace Dresser 1905-1997

Felicia Grace Dresser, the daughter of John H. and Della M. (Stahl) Palmer, was born November 3, 1905, in Franklin Township, Allamakee County, near Rossville, Iowa. She Passed away Friday, April 11, 1997 in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville, Iowa. She had reached the age of 91 years, 5 months and 8 days.

She attended the rural schools, Red School and Mapledale, in Franklin Township and was graduated from the Waukon High School in 1922, after moving to Waukon with her parents.

Felicia was graduated from the Waukon Junior College following a year of post-graduate study at the Waukon High School. She was then employed for a brief period by the Harned and VonMaur Department Store in Davenport, Iowa. She then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls for about a year, obtaining her teaching certificate. Felicia taught at the Empire school district in the rural Postville area for the 1928-1929 school year and at the Castalia school during 1929-1930.

Felicia was married to Lawrence E. Dresser in Waukon on June 5, 1930 and the couple settled on the Dresser family farm near Postville, where she lived for the next 66 yrs. Three children were born to this union, John Dresser of Marshalltown, Eunice and Her husband, Dale Turner of Postville, IA and Mary Wallin of Thousand Oaks, CA.

Following her husbands death in 1960, Felicia became a bookkeeper where she worked for over 20 years. Later, she retired to the family farm, and in May of 1996, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Postville.

During her life, she was active in various church activeties and was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville for over 65 years. She was a 50-year member of the order of Eastern Star. She was one of the founding members of the West Post Project Club, a member of the American Legion auxiliary and of Monday Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Theresa Gilbert and a brother, Wilson G. Palmer.

She is survived by one sister, Elinor Donaldson of Postville, her children, seven grandchildren, Barbara (Turner) Suckow, Steve Turner, Julie (Turner)Holiday, Susan Turner, Anita Turner, Diana (Wallin) Reagan and Wanda Wallin, Ten great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
