Martin Hersey Kidder, born in Waukon, Son of Ada Kate Pratt and Harley Perry Kidder, April 30, 1905 passed away May 28, 2002 in Plant City, Florida. Martin is survived by his only daughter Katherine Estelle Kidder Blair Weston, grandaughters, Dina Elizabeth Blair and Rachel Lynn Blair Layman. Two Great Grand sons, Trevor Martin Layman and Myles Blair Layman. Martin Married Evelyn Wickstrom in 1923 and they spent many years travelling for business. They settled in Ft. Lauderdale Florida in 1952 where they raised their daughter Katherine. Martin and Evelyn operated an auto parts company until 1975 and then spent their golden years enjoying travels to Europe and spending time with their grandchildren. Evelyn left Martin to be in Heaven in 1994. Martin and Evelyn had just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversery. Martin spent his last two years in Plant City, Florida where he peacefully passed on at the age of 97. Martin grew up in Waukon, the town in which his great Grandfather, Azel Pratt helped to settle; Building the first Baptist Church in the town. In the decade before Martin passed away he spent many years researching our family history and discovered thoroughly his roots in Waukon. He spoke pridefully of his heritage and told many stories to his grandchildren about his childhood days. We miss you greatly Grandpa and know you and Grandma are together in eternity. You blessed us with your wisdom and knowledge and we will always hold you dear in our hearts.

MARTIN HERSEY KIDDER 1905-2002

My Grandfather, Martin Hersey Kidder passed away May 26th, 2002 in Plant City, Florida. We did not post an obituary anywhere, as he was the only relative that we knew from his lineage. He is survived by his Daughter Katherine Kidder Blair Weston and his two Granddaughters Dina Elizabeth Blair and Rachel Lynn Blair Layman, two Grandsons, Trevor Martin Layman and Myles Blair Layman. He was born April 30, 1905. Was born in Waukon and lived there until he began moving around the country in 1924, or thereabouts.
