Charles E. Werhan

Charles E. Werhan, peacefully on July 14, 1987 at Trevilla Nursing Home in New Brighton, Minnesota, at the age of 77 years .

Charles also known as (Pat) was born in Allamakee County, Iowa on April 5, 1910. At the age of 14 he immigrated to Canada with his family. They homesteaded on a farm at Glencairn, Man. After many years his family all went back leaving him to farm.

On January 1, 1934 He married Jean L. Hollingsworth of Winnipeg. They continued to farm and later moved to Kelwood, where he worked for Wilson's Garage and farmed. In 1955 Charles, Jean and sons moved to Minneapolis, and later to 1131 Mooney Drive, New Brighton, Minnesota where he lived till six weeks prior to his death due to cancer related causes. He drove school bus for Mounds View School District till his retirement in 1975.

Charles will be sadly missed by his wife Jean, daughter and son-in-law, Thelma and Glen Burton of Leaf Rapids, Man.; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Lois of Forest Lake, Minnesota, and Gerald and Orinne of Hewitt, Minnesota. To cherish his memory also are eight grandchildren, Ed, Dennis, Sydney, and Lori Burton, Michael and Kevin Werhan, and Paula and Jeremy Werhan; Three great granchildren, Candice, Jason and Dennis, Jr.

He is also survived by two sisters, Faith and Elizabeth and brother Milton; sisters-in-law Irene and Rose, and nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Paul, Frank and William, sister-in-law Martha, and brothers-in-law Fred Clements and Allan Foster.

Funeral services were held on July 17, 1987 in Waite Park Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Dale Nash officiating. Washburn & McReany in charge with interment in Hillside Cemetery, Minneapolis.

Casket bearers were Bert Ogg, Don LeMieur, Dean Hartle, Michael Werhan, Kevin Werhan, Jeremy Werhan.

The family wish to thank everyone for their floral tributes, memorials and cards.
