Alfred A. Meyer, 85, of New Albin, died August 1, 1987 at St. Francis Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis.

He was born September 10, 1901 in New Albin, the son of George and Dorothea (Schroe­der) Meyer. He married Cleo Donovan and she preceded him in death in October of 1967.

He was a farmer and also owned a furniture and ap­pliance store in New Albin. He also sold insurance and seed corn for several years. He was assessor for Union City and Iowa township.

He is survived by a son, Melvin Meyer, of La Crescent, Minn.; four grandchildren; and a brother, Irvin, of New Albin.

Besides his wife, he was preceded by three sisters; Martha Meyer, Alvina Boltz and Lydia Fink, and five brothers; Carl, Adolph, Art, Albert and August.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Fr. Henry Charipar officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.

The Burke-Thornburg fun­eral home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Donald Love, Lester Fink, Gladys Denstad, Ralph Meyer, Rob­ert Meyer, Karon Adams and Ferris Meyer.
