Harry A. Lenz, 93, passed away July 29, 1987 at Veter­ans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He suffered a stroke two weeks before at his home in New Albin.

He was born January 15, 1894 to Henry and Mary (Gramlich) Lenz on the Lenz homestead near Churchtown, one of eight children.

He married Anna Batteen in 1917. She died in August of 1929. To this union were born two children, Charlene and John. He then married Pearl Pohlman in 1930. She died in 1977.

He farmed in the Lansing and Mabel, Minn. areas be­fore moving to New Albin.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Charlene) Garrett, of Lansing; a son, John, of Scottsdale, Arizona; seven grandchildren; ten great­grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Edna Paptistella, of Hinsdale, Illinois.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Wil­liam, Theodore and Edward, and three sisters, Emma Parks, Nettie Yahnke and Clara Bauman.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, at the Grace Meth­odist Church in New Albin. Rev. Thomas Mattson officia­ted and burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing.

Honorary pallbearers were great-grandchildren Kevin McCauley, Steven McCauley, Michelle McCauley, Jon Gar­rett, Jill Garrett, Renee Lys­ne, Gregory Lysne, Gary Lenz Jr., Stacy Lenz and Brian Anderson.

Casket bearers were Jerry Plagge, Herbert Zarwell, Ray­mond Whalen, Robert Bul­man, Cleon Sires and Ray­mond Sires.

Attending the services from away were Mrs. Edna Paptis­tella of Hinsdale, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Paptistella of Western Springs, lil., Mr, and Mrs. Milton Lenz of Abbots­ford, Wis., Mrs. Florence Lenz and Gerald Lenz of Abbotsford, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Dale Yahnke and Bur­dette Yahnke of Lake Crystal, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. Wallie Johnson of Long Prair­ie, Minn.

Others attending were from Mabel and Caledonia, Minne­sota, La Crosse, Wis., De­corah, Lansing and the New Albin area.

The Haugen-Roble funeral home of Caledonia was in charge of arrangements.

NEW ALBIN, Iowa-- Harry A. Lenz, 93, New Albin, died Wednesday, July 29, 1987, in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Iowa

He was born Jan. 15, 1894, in Lansing, Iowa to Henry and Mary (Gramlick) Lenz.

He married Anna Batteen in 1917. She died in 1929. He then married Pearl Pohlman in 1930. She died in 1977.

He farmed in the Lansing and Mabel, Minn., areas before moving to New Albin.

Survivors are a son, John of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Charlene Garrett of Lansing; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edna Papstella of Hinsdale, Ill.

In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Methodist Church, New Albin. The Rev. Thomas Mattson will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing.

Friends may call at the New Albin Funeral Chapel from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, and at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Haugen-Roble Funeral Home, Caledonia, is in charge of arrangements.
