Rites for Donald Steiber in Lansing
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 1st at 2 p.m. from the United Methodist church in Lansing for Donald Edward Steiber of Lansing who died June 28 in Waukon Veterans Memorial Hospital.
The Rev. Alvin Ebert was the officiating minister and burial was in Oak Hill cemetery. Dale Steiber, Harlan Steiber and Robert Schulze, nephews of the deceased, and Donald Russell, Keith Grady and LaVerne Peterson, grandsons, were pallbearers, Burke funeral home in Lansing was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Steiber was born May 29, 1908 in Wexford and was a son of Herman and Anna Lenz Steiber. He was educated in the rural schools and his occupation was farming. He lived in the Wexford area all of his life with the exception of the last 12 years when he lived in Lansing.
May 28, 1931 he married Irene Decker in Lansing. She survives with the following children: Mrs. Daniel (Beverly) Grady, Waukon; Mrs. Delbert (Ruth) Russell, Church; Mrs. Raymond (Mona) Shelton, Cedar Rapids; Kenneth Steiber, Lansing, and Mrs. Robert (Sharon) Decker, Waukon. Eighteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a sister Mrs.Marvin (Helen) Schulze of Lansing and a brother Leslie Steiber, also of Lansing, also survive. A brother Raymond preceded him in death.
Mr. Steiber was a member of United Methodist church.
