In Memory of Wilfred Wendel

Bill was born on June 1, 1917 in Lansing, Iowa to Lillian Wendel Steiber. At the age of six months he was adolped by Rhoda and Henry Wendel of rural Eagle Bend. Here he spent his days of youth and learned to love the soil and to care for the land. He attended Crider School #98 from 1923-1931. Later he would serve as a faithful school board member. He married Wilma Gadbaw on June 29, 1946 in Wadena, Minnesota,. He farmed in Eagle Valley township until 1979 when his son, Wayne, took over the third generation farm. Bill was active on the Todd County Soil and Water Board for many years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Eagle Bend.

He was interested in the preservation of wildlife and appreciated all aspects of God's creation to the fullest.

Bill passed away due to complications from a stroke at the age of 74 years in the St.
Cloud Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma; four children, Wayne and his wife, Carol, and two children, Amy and Aaron of Eagle Bend; Wanda Hommerding and her husband, Michael, and three children, Rachel, John, and Laura of Clarissa; Wanneta Johnson and her two children, Julie and Christopher of Long Prairie.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Organist was Dorothy Nelson. Casket Bearers were Kenneth Nelson, Roy Beach, Bill Einerwold, Paul Schneider, Frank Firkus, and Bundy Thompson. Interment at Eagle Bend Cemetery. With Arrangements by the Domaian-Anderson Funeral Home of Eagle Bend.
