Last Rites Held Sunday for Raymond Steiber

Another sudden death of this area was that of Raymond Steiber, 54, which occurred Thursday about noon at his farm home several miles south east of Lansing after suffering a heart attack. He was born May 16, 1905, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Steiber in Lafayette township where he had spent his entire life. Following his education in the rural schools of the area on June 18, 1929 he was married to Lillian Wendel at the E.U.B. Church in Lansing of which he was a life time member. Besides his sorrowful wife he is survived by four of their five children, a son and a daughter, Harlan and Mildred at home, Mrs. Hazel Copenhaver, Tuscon, Ariz. and Mrs. Phyllis Van Kleek, of Arnolds Park. Other immediate survivors include two brothers, Donald and Leslie and one sister Mrs. Marvin Schultz, all on farms in the same vicinity and one grandchild. His parents and an infant son preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Burke Funeral Chapel to the E.U.B. Church with pastor Rev. Thomas Balm officiating and saying the final prayers at the graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery where interment was made.

Casket bearers were Kenneth and Dale Steiber, Glenn, David and Bobby Wendel and George D. Johnson, all nephews of the deceased.
