Postville Herald newspaper clipping, hand dated 1987, from my mother's obituary collection.

Roy Honn

Roy Louis Honn, 77, died Sunday, Aug. 23 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist church with Rev. Dean Shelly officiating.

He was born Nov. 14, 1909 in Clayton County to Henry C. and Freda Schroeder Honn. June 26, 1930 he married Pearl Swenson in Waukon. They farmed near Forest Mills, and he had been sanitation inspector for Allamakee county since retiring. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, three sons, Roger, Cedar Rapids, Meryle, Waukon and William (Bill) Waterloo; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Emma Thompson, Monona and Laura Powell, Elkader.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Arthur and Harvey and 4 sisters, Mabel, Ora, Ethel and Eda.

Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon, with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Casket bearers were Rodney Livingood, George Friederich, Gene Watson, Harva Oelberg, Lawrence Powell and Lloyd Clark.
