Obituary----John Wendel
John Wendel was born Dec. 1st, 1854, in Summerhill, Cambria County, Pa., where he lived during the boyhood days of his life. In 1877 He came to Iowa where he lived for several years, later moving to Chicago where he has been employed as a machinist in the C.& N. W. R. R. shops for the last 27 years of his life.
On Saturday, Oct. 15th, he was called from time into Eternity. His wife preceded him in death 31 years ago. He leaves to mourn his departure one sister, Mrs. Andrew Whitacre, of Dayton, Penn., and a brother, Wm. Wendel of this city, together with other relatives and friends. He was not affiliated with any particular church. His remains arrived here Monday morning, and burial from Saam's Undertaking Rooms at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, Rev. Olson officiating. Interment in Oak Hill cemetery.
