Viola Katherine Wiemerslage, 85, of New Albin, IA died Wednesday, December 12, 2006 at Thornton Manor Care Center in Lansing, IA.

Viola was born September 14, 1921 to Peter and Rose (Freilinger) Rouster in New Albin, IA. She joined the Women’s Army Air Corps and served for three years during WW II. She married Norman Wiemerslage on June 13, 1953 in Winona. They lived in New Albin their entire married life. Viola was a homemaker.

She is survived by four children: Sharon (James) Re, Scottsdale, AZ; Fred (Vicki), New Albin; Craig, New Albin; Colleen Wiemerslage-Bromley, Milan, IL; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; three sisters: Philamanie Schutz of Caledonia; Helen (Blaine) Gaare of Mable, and Evangeline “Vangie” Schellsmidt of Caledonia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and a grandson.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 16 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Albin with burial in the church cemetery. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing, IA is assisting the family.
