From the Postville Herald

Mrs. Fred L. Meyer Passed Away Apr. 9

Mrs. Fred L. Meyer, whose death at her home southwest of Postville on Tuesday, April 9, 1935, we briefly mentioned last week, was born June 8, 1885, in Grand Meadow township, Clayton county, Iowa, and her maiden name was Wilhelmina Brandt.

On March 4, 1908, she was united in marriage with Fred L. Meyer, and to this union were born three children, who with the husband and father mourn her untimely passing.

Mrs. Meyer was a good wife and mother, a good neighbor and friend, and the sincerest sympathy of all who knew her goes out to those bereft in the great grief it is theirs to bear.

She is survived by her husband, one son, Lloyd; two daughters, Mrs. Vera Hangartner and Jessie at home; also by five grandchildren and four brothers,—Gottlieb, Charles, Ernest and John; and three sisters, Mrs. Martha Schroeder, Mrs. Emma Minges and Mrs. Christina Behrens.

The funeral was held from St. Paul’s Lutheran church in this city on Friday afternoon, April 12th, Rev. R. B. Garten officiating, and the large gathering of sympathizing friends in attendance fully attested the high place she held in the hearts of the people of this city and community. Interment was made in the Postville cemetery.

My handwritten transcription of this obituary gives her name as Wilhelmina, but records from her family and her tombstone give her first name as Amelia
