The death of John Sheriff, 84, occurred Sunday (30 June 1957) at the Good Samaritan Home in Waukon.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Mt. Hope Presbyterian church, with Martin Brothers Funeral Home in charge of the burial in the English Bench cemetery. The Rev. E.M. DeBuhr officiated.

Mr. Sheriff spent his lifetime in Allamakee county, where he was born Nov. 8, 1873. He was married in April 1900 to Essie Woods of Caledonia, Minn.

Survivors include two sons, Leonard of La Crosse, Wis. and William of Ely, Ia.; four daughters, Mrs. Frank. Gordon of Dorchester, Mrs. Albert Iykras of New York Mills, Minn., Mrs. William Childers of Baraboo, Wis., and Mrs. Carl Doubek of Vinton, Ia.; 21 grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Reeder of Waukon; and a sister, Mrs. William Wirmerslager of Cedar Falls, Ia.
