Rites Are Today For Mrs. Koenig
Funeral services are being held this afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the house and 2:00 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for Mrs. Louis Koenig, 74, who passed away at her home here following a period of declining health.
The rites are in charge of Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig, pastor of St. Paul’s. Burial will be in Postville cemetery.
Born in Clayton.
Anna Wilhelmine Pauline Witt Koenig, daughter of John Christ Witt and Minnie Kramer Witt, was born December 19, 1876 at Clayton Center, Clayton county, and departed this life after a period of declining health on December 9, 1951, at her home in Postville, aged 74 years, 11 months and 20 days.
Mrs. Koenig was made a Christian through the sacrament of Holy Baptism in infancy and was received into active membership in the Lutheran Church in the St. Paul’s congregation of Postville.
Mrs. Koenig was united in marriage with Louis Koenig of Postville on January 21, 1897. To this union one daughter was born, who survives the passing of her mother.
With the exception of the earliest years, Mrs. Koenig was a lifelong resident of the Postville community.
Left to mourn her passing are her husband; one daughter, Ruby, Mrs. Roland Gass, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one adopted daughter, Marie, Mrs. Norman Shogren, of La Crosse, Wisconsin; one brother, John Witt, of Faribault, Minnesota; one sister, Helen, Mrs. Emil Schultz, of Ionia, Iowa; four grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Koenig was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Amelia, Mrs. William Schara.
