Mrs. Louise Kamp Has Passed Away
Deceased Had Been With Daughter At OssianMrs. Louisa Kamp, for many years a Postville resident, passed on at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Doane, in Ossian, on Thursday, April 1, 1937, aged 75 years, nine months, and two days, her demise following an illness of six months.
Her maiden name was Louisa Meyer, and she was born in Germany, June 19, 1861, where she was also baptized. She came to America in 1872 at the age of 11 years and was confirmed in the church at Clayton Center, Iowa, in 1875.
October 24, 1882, she was united in marriage with Fred Kamp, and this union extended happily over a period of more than fifty years. To this union were born five children, two sons and three daughters. One son preceded her in death 19 years ago and the husband and father passed away June 11, 1934. The surviving children are Will Kamp of Castalia, Mrs. Clara Meyer and Mrs. Ella Schultz of Waukon, and Mrs. Ruby Doane of Ossian. There are also 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and a host of friends.
She is also survived by three brothers, C.F. Meier, Louis Meier, and Henry W. Meier, and two sisters, Mrs. Geo. W. Hein and Mrs. Wm. H. Hein, all of this community.
After the death of her husband she made her home with her daughters for the past three years.
Mrs. Kamp was a dutiful wife and loving mother, and by her sympathetic and considerate nature endeared her self to a wide circle of friends who sorely grieve her departure.
Funeral services were held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city on last Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Dr. R.B. Garten officiating. Interment was made in the Postville cemetery.
