Fred Kamp Lived Here Many Years
Funeral Services Held Last Thursday Afternoon

Frederick Carl Johann Kamp passed away at his home in this city after a brief illness on Monday, June 11, 1934, at 10 o'clock p.m., aged 75 years, seven months and 28 days.

He was born in Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany, October 14, 1858. When he was about four years of age he came with his parents to this country. For about two years the family lived in Chicago, Ill., and then moved to the vicinity of Postville, in the old Springfield settlement. In the year 1873 he was confirmed in the old St. Paul's Lutheran church of this city, being a member of the first confirmation class on record, and remained a faithful communicant member of the church throughout a long and useful life.

On October 24, 1882, he was united in marriage to Louise Meyer, which union extended happily over a period of more than fifty years. To this union were born five children, two sons and three daughters, one son having preceded the father in death fifteen years ago.

For twenty-nine years the family lived on a farm five miles northwest of Postville, and in 1911 they moved to this city to spend the remaining years of their life in retirement.

The departed was a loving husband and father, a kind neighbor and friend, and the sorrow of the members of his immediate family over his departure is deep and genuine, and his many friends also sincerely regret his demise.

Besides his widow he leaves to mourn his passing, one son, William of Castalia; and three daughters, Mrs. Clara Meyer and Mrs. Ella Schultz, of Waukon; Mrs. Ruby Doan of Ossian; also twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Augusta Groth, and many friends.

The funeral services were held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city at two o'clock on last Thursday afternoon, the pastor, Dr. R.B. Garten, officiating. Interment was made in the Postville cemetery.
