Roger W. Kiesau, 63, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, in University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, from complications of cancer. Services were held Monday, July 29, 2002, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. T. Edwards Breed. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, assisted with arrangements. Burial was in Troy Mills Cemetery, Troy Mills, with military rites. Roger was born the son of Calvin and Luella (Hanson) Kiesau on February 10, 1939, in Postville. On February 14, 1965, he was united in marriage to June Andrews at Troy Mills Christian Church. Roger served in the U. S. Navy. He worked for Peter Pan Bakery, Sunbeam, and Frito Lay in sales and service. Roger was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed his time hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, June; his mother, Luella Kiesau of Waukon; two daughters, Jodi (Ali) Kazerani their children, Reza, Drew, and Keion of Coralville, and Jill Steichen and her children, Autumn, Kaylee, and Whitney of Rochelle, Ill.; a son, Jason Kiesau and his daughter, Marriah, of Des Moines; two brothers, Neil Kiesau and wife Sharon of Lansing, and Curtis Kiesau and wife Carolyn of Wausau, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a special aunt, Mae.
Graveside military rites were conducted by Floyd Williamson American Legion Post 712 of Troy Mills. A memorial fund has been established, in memory of Roger, for St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, or the University of Iowa Foundation for cancer research and palliative care.©Waukon Standard 2002
