Neva Beth Gregg, 88

Neva Beth Gregg, of Stewartville, Minn., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, in the Stewartville Care Center. She was 88.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. The Reverend Steve Brackett officiated. Special music was provided by Dane Paulson, grandson. Casket bearers were Todd Crandall, Shawn Crandall, Shane Crandall, and Dane Paulson. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.

Neva Beth (Sweitzer) Gregg was born October 25, 1917, at Waterloo to Bernice and Martha (Aitken) Sweitzer. Neva Beth graduated from Hudson High School and attended Gates Business College in Waterloo.

On August 26, 1938 Neva Beth was married to James Allen Gregg at Hudson. To this union two daughters were born. Her husband owned and operated Gregg Lumber Yard in Postville. Among other activities, Neva Beth and Jim enjoyed riding their motorcycle in their spare time.

Neva Beth was a homemaker, caring for their home and family. She enjoyed reading, puzzle books, watching television, and following NASCAR races. She also liked to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Following the death of her husband in 1973, Neva Beth was employed at the Nursing Home in Postville until 1978, when she moved to West Union. She became a resident of the Stewartville Care Center in 2002.

Surviving are two daughters, Dianne (Larry) Crandall, West Union, and Peggy (Richard) Paulson, Stewartville, Minn.; five grandchildren, Todd A. (Ginger) Crandall, Minnetonka, Minn., Shawn A. (Lynnette) Crandall, Plymouth, Minn., Shane (Darlene) R. Crandall, Plainfield, Ill., Kjersti L. Paulson, Eden Prairie, Minn., and Dane R. Paulson, Minnetonka, Minn.; four great grandchildren, Luke and Ethan Crandall, Slater Crandall and Mariah Crandall.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James A. Gregg, who died March 5, 1973, and two sisters, Marvena (Carson) Parris and Euna (Tom) Brown.
