Roger Steffans, 40, Postville

Funeral services for Roger Steffans, 40, were Monday, August 14, at 11 a.m., Schutte's Clermont Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Gary Catterson officiated. Casket Bearers were: Loren Ihde, Mike Ihde, Les Kuene, Marty Larson, Mike Steffans, and Cody Steffans. Honorary Casket Bearers were all of Roger's brothers and sister. Burial was in God's Acre Cemetery at Clermont. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements.

Roger Lee Steffans was born September 3, 1965, in Community Memorial Hospital at Postville, to Donald Eugene and Wilma (Quandahl) Steffans. He died Thursday, August 10, at his home south of Postville.

Roger graduated from Valley High School where he participated in track and set a track record, which still stands today.

September 22, 2001 he married Lynn Ann Tobin at home in Frankville. Roger was employed as a mechanic, shop foreman, and general laborer at Four-County Ag for over 12 years. He was an over-the-road semi driver for over three years, and employed at the Decorah Chevrolet-Cadillac as Service Manager five years.

Roger was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoors man. He enjoyed working with wood. He followed stock car racing and had several favorite drivers.

Roger is survived by his wife; his son, Cody (special friend Jobyna Swenka), of Fayette; two step-children, Cody Cronin and Stephanie Cronin; parents, Donald and Wilma Steffans; three brothers, Donald "Dean" (Karla) Steffans, Decorah; Greg Steffans, Somerset, Ky., and Richard (Nikki) Steffans, Postville and a sister, Ruth Larson, Clermont.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Gary Steffans, grandparents William and Lasena Steffans, grandparents Evelyn and Walter Quandahl.
