Ruth L. Zeiner, age 78, of Waterloo, Iowa, and formerly of New Albin, Iowa, died Monday afternoon, May 3, 2004, at the Western Home in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Funeral services were held Friday, May 7 at Grace United Methodist Church in New Albin with Pastor Keith Putney officiating. Burial was in the New Albin Cemetery, New Albin. Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing assisted the family with arrangements.

Ruth was born in New Albin July 11, 1925, to Ernest and Ruth (Thompson) Irons. In 1943 she worked at the Lansing Toy Company. Following that she worked at Chamberlain Manufacturing in Waterloo for 43 years, retiring in 1987. Ruth was a great fan of baseball and girls softball. She also enjoyed traveling in her motor home.

Ruth is survived by nine siblings, Ben (Elsie) Irons of Lansing, Laura Karczewski of Chicago, Ill., Wayne (Mary) Irons of Davenport, Iowa, Robert Irons of Waukon, Barbara Mellen of Prairie du Chien, Wis., Marjorie Haar of Oelwein, Iowa, Beverly (Loren) Smiley of Kewaunee, Wis., Lorna (Milton) Strong of La Crosse, Wis., and Karen (Jason) Styrwoll of Warroad, Minn.; as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John, Homer, and Louis Irons; and a sister, Dorothy Brooks.
