Belva Darling

Belva Darling, age 86, of Lansing, Iowa, and formerly of New Albin, died May 15, 2006, at Thornton Manor in Lansing. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Town House in New Albin with Pastor Keith Putney officiating. Burial will be in the New Albin City Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the Town House.

Belva was born in New Albin August 7, 1919, to Lysander and Clara Darling. Belva had been handicapped most of her life. For many years she lived with and helped take care of her parents. She enjoyed listening to music, playing bingo, and visiting with her family and friends.

She is survived by four siblings, Bunny (Vernon) Melcher of Waukon, Robert Darling of Strawberry Point, Thomas Darling of New Albin, and Elton Darling of New Albin, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Belva was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings, George, Melvin, and Vernon Darling, Elsie Williams, Vivian Kilby, and Virginia Verdon.

The Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing is assisting the family.
