Rodney Steiber

Rodney Dean Steiber, age 45, of Waukon and formerly of Lansing, died Sunday April 16, 2006, at his home in rural Waukon. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 19, at United Methodist Church in Lansing with Rev Keith Putney officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing where military rites were accorded by the American Legion and the VFW. Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing was in charge of arrangements.

Rod was born in Waukon Iowa, October 8, 1960, to Dale and Shirley (Knuppe) Steiber. He married Tammy Raney March 10, 2006, at the Shirley Steiber residence, rural Lansing.

Rod was employed at the Waukon Feed Ranch for several years where he operated the feed mill and spread fertilizer. He did a lot of farm building repair and did fencing, he enjoyed carpentry and yard work. He served in the National Guard from March 19, 1978, to June 24, 1978, when he was honorably discharged.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy Steiber of Waukon; one son, Jeremy Dean (Rebekah) Steiber of Waterville; three step-daughters, Christen (Scott) Hughes of Waukon, Sabrina Raney and fiance Kevin Jostand of Waukon, and Cynthia Raney and fiance Barry Noble of Waukon; two grandchildren, Jacub and Saige Steiber of Waterville; four step-grandchildren, Brian Hagensick, Trinity Hughes, Connor Hughes, and Desiree Raney, all of Waukon; his mother, Shirley Steiber of Lansing; five siblings, Diana (Earl) Fullmer of Prairie du Chien, Wis., Rick (Patsy) Steiber of Lansing, Ron Steiber of Lansing, Sandy (Dan) Hofschulte of Lansing, and Susan (Jason) Peterson of Lansing.

Rod was preceded in death by his father, Dale, in 2000, and grandparents Leslie and Ethel Steiber and Emil Knuppe and Catherine Knuppe-Hanson.

Betty Gramlich was the organist and casketbearers were Kevin Jostad, Tim Clark, Neil Dahlstrom, Curtis Ellefson, Kerry Ellefson, and Chris Burkhart.
