Daymond Nuehring 1917-2004

Funeral services for Daymond Nuehring, 87, were held Friday, July 23, 2004, at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville, with Rev. Paul Graham of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien officiating. Interment will take place in the Postville Cemetery at a later date. Daymond Dietrich Alvin Nuehring was born June 19, 1917, to John William and Alice Kruse Nuehring at Watson, east of Monona, Iowa. He passed away Sunday, July 18, 2004, in the Ossian Senior Hospice at Ossian, Iowa. Daymond was baptized July 22, 1917, by Rev. E. Schmitt and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa. He attended the Heins School near Luana. On September 3, 1940, Daymond married Elizabeth Martha Pufahl at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. To this union three sons were born. They lived in the Farmersburg area for two years and then farmed near Monona for 20 years. They moved to their home in Postville in 1968. Daymond became a resident of the Ossian Senior Hospice on January 13, 1997. Surviving are three sons, Mark (Marilyn) Nuehring of Marion, Iowa, Daniel (Evelyn) Nuehring of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Stanley (Diana) Nuehring of Nashville, Tenn.; four granddaughters, Karla and Holly, Jill and Lisa; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Frances Fette of Wauseka, Minn., Leila Fett of Prairie du Chien, Wis., LaVerda (Harlan) Welzel of Eldorado, Iowa, and Lorene Swenson of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, Marlyn (Dorothy) Nuehring of Monona. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Orville, John, and Frederick and three who died in infancy.
