Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Memorial services for Fred W. Gorman, age 83, of Fort Madison, Iowa, and formerly of Waukon, Iowa, were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2007 at the Union Presbyterian Church in Fort Madison, Iowa. Reverend Mark Binder officiated at the services.
Fred W. Gorman, son of Fred and Helen (Millet) Gorman, Sr., was born July 10, 1924 in New York City, New York. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in business from the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On August 26, 1950 he married Merilynn Bray in Waukon, Iowa. He was a businessman who owned and operated a trucking company. Over the years, Fred and Merilynn made their home in the Iowa towns of Waukon, Dubuque, Fort Dodge, and Fort Madison, and Edinburg, Texas. He swas a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Union Presbyterian Church, and the Masonic Order.
Fred W. Gorman died at 6:26 p.m. on October 8, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, an aunt, and an uncle.
Fred is survived by his wife, Merilynn of Fort Madison, Iowa, a daughter, Kathy L. (Tom) Skewes also of Fort Madison; his granddaughters, Kari E. (Scott) Packard of Wyoming, Iowa, and Katie R. Skewes of Indianapolis, Indiana; and his great-granddaughter, Kolby Lynn Packard.
