Funeral services for Erine Heins were held Wednesday, October 2, 1996, at 1:30 p.m. in the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, IA. The Reverend Elizabeth Yates officiated. The organist was Marian Schutte. The Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
Ernie Lloyd Heins, son of Henry and Amelia (Kutzbach) Heins, was born December 23, 1919 at Luana, IA. He passed away Sunday, September 29, 1996 in the Good Samaritan Center at Waukon, IA. He had reached the age of 76 years, 9 months and 6 days.
He was baptized November 20, 1920, by the Reverend E. Schmidt and was confirmed March 25, 1934 by the Reverend R. B. Garten at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. Ernie received his education in a rural school near Luana. On August 20, 1958 he was married to Lola Heins at Lancaster, WI.
Erine was employed at Hygrade Food Products in Postville for 25 years. For the past 25 years, he and his wife, Lola, were employed as custodians at the Citizens State Bank in Postville. The couple have lived in Postville most of their lives.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Henry Heins.
Surviving are his wife, Lola, his sons, Ernie Lee Heins of Hazleton, IA, and Gary Heins and friend Sandy of Postville, 2 stepdaughters, Mary (Louis) Sutter and Rita (Bob) Smith, all of Cedar Rapids, 6 grandchildren, Brian (Ivanelle) Heins, Bradley Heins, Shane (Christina) Heins, Jessica Goeke, Troy (Dana) Sutter, Danny (Michelle) Jungjohann, several great grandchildren, 1 brother, Glen Heins of Elkader and 2 sisters, LaVerna (Roland) Dundee of Postville and Mabel Sawvell of Duluth, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
Ernie was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, and a 50 year member of the American Legion Post 0518 He had served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
Casket bearers were Ronald, Bradley, Brian and Shane Heins, Troy Sutter and Danny Jungjohann.
