Leo H.W. Morch 1921-2001

Leo Henry William Morch, the son of Asbjorn "Ben" Morch and Senda Bertha Gericke Morch, was born on the family farm northeast of Postville, Iowa. He passed away Friday, December 7, 2001, in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville, Iowa. He had reached the age of 80 years, four months, and ten days.

He was baptized August 31, 1921 in St. Paul Lutheran Church by the Reverend E. Schmidt and confirmed there on March 25th, 1934 by the Reverend R. B. Garten. Leo attended the Cherry Valley rural school near his home.

On December 8, 1944 Leo was married to Marvel Maxine Doerring. To this union three daughters were born. They moved to a farm two miles north of Postville in January of 1945 and farmed there for 44 years. During that time Leo also operated a saw mill on his farm. They moved to their present home on East Green Street in January of 1989.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Rose M. Foels and her husband, Walter Foels, and a nephew, Stanley Foels.

Surviving is his wife, Maxine, three daughters, Marcine B. Nelson and her husband, Roger, of McGregor, Iowa; Beverly E. Skersick and her husband, Leslie, of Flagstaf, Arizona; and Patricia J. Timp and her husband, Roger of Decorah, Iowa; nine grandchildren: Chadron R. Nelson and wife, Melinda, Jeremy L. Nelson, Karen R. (Skersick) Patty and husband, Jeff, Kathy M. (Skersick) Lyons and husband, Brian, David A. Skersick, Brian P. Timp, Bradley H. Timp and wife Jacqueline, Barry J. Timp and wife, Jennifer and Benjamin L. Timp; four great grandchildren, Lindsey Patty, Connor Patty, Ryan Lyons, and Kevin Lyons.

Also surviving is a sister, Jeleen (Millard) Bilden of Clermont, Iowa, and a brother, Herbert O. Morch and wife, Jane, of Wichita, Kansas, and many nieces and nephews.

Leo had served as a member of the Postville Telephone Board and the Postville Fair Board. He was also a member of the Whistlin Bit Saddle Club and had served on the Board of Directors.

Casket Bearers: The Grandchildren: Brian P. Timp, Bradley H. Timp, Barry J. Timp, Benjamin L. Timp, Chadron R. Nelson, Jeremy L. Nelson, Karen R. Patty, Kathy M. Lyons, David Alan Skersick.

Interment: Postville Cemetery, Postville, Iowa.
Visitation: 3:00 - 7:00 P.M., Monday, December 10, 2001

Relatives and Friends are invited to join the family for fellowship and luch, which will be served in the fellowship hall following the service.
