Rites Held For Lansing Woman
Lansing, Ia. (Special) Funeral services for Mrs. Edward Dee, 48, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Evangelical church, with the Revs. George Cramer and C. H. Hoffman officiating. Mrs. Dee died Sunday at a LaCrosse hospital where she had been taken Wednesday.
As Lydia Wendel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Wendel, she was born at Belmont, Oct. 17, 1888. When she was 12 years old her mother died, and a month later she came to Lansing to make her home with her maternal grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Hirth. She attended the School at Church. She was married to Edward Dee, March 9, 1909.
To Mr. and Mrs. Dee were born four children. After the death of her sister, Mrs. Mabel Riesdorf, she took the small daughter, Florence, into her home and gave her a mother's care.
Mrs. Dee was a member of the Evangelical church, where she was associated with the Sunday school, Women's Missionary society and Ladies' Aid. For the past months she had cared for her father-in-law, Gus Dee, an invalid.
Mrs. Dee is survived by her husband, daughter Helen, three sons, Cletus, Delbert and Harris, her niece. Florence Riesdorf, her father, George Wendel, stepmother, sister, Mrs. J. J. Marti, brothers, Howard Wendel, half brothers, Willard and Harold Wendel of Mason City, and a sister, Mrs. Leonard Dee of Lansing, besides a number of close relatives.
Casket bearers were A.T. Wendel, Charles Hirth, Ben Riser, Ben Feuerhelm, Clarence Feuerhelm and James Thorsten. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.
