Marie M. Wiemerslage, 92, of Waukon, IA and formerly of New Albin, IA died Monday, January 21, 2002 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon following a lengthy illness. She was born on August 15, 1909 on the rural New Albin, Union City Township farm of her parents, Otto and Emma (Haar) Brinker. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Luke’s Evangelical Church in Eitzen and attended rural Allamakee County Schools. On September 25, 1935 she married Leo Wiemerslage of St. Luke’s Evangelical Church in Eitzen.
She lived in the New Albin area until moving to the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon in 1998. Marie liked to bake, garden, raise flowers, and playing solitaire. She was fond of cats and enjoyed being around children. She also liked visiting with her family and friends.
Marie is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Elmer Brinker and two sisters, Frances Meiners and Malinda Halvorson.
Services were held Thursday, January 24, 11 am at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in New Albin with Rev. William Reese officiating. Burial was in the New Albin City Cemetery. Friends called from 3-7 pm on Wednesday at the New Albin Funeral Chapel.
