----
We have recorded each week, for some time past, the death of one or more pioneer residents of the county, and are now called on to note the demise of another - Mrs. Elizabeth Brownell, wife of the venerable and respected Edward Brownell of Village Creek, who departed this life on Saturday evening last.
The deceased was born March 28, 1806, and had therefore attained the ripe old age of 73. She was a native of Sheffeld, England; was married in 1833; emigrated to Canada in 1843, where they resided twelve years.
In 1856 Mr. Brownell located at Makee, near Waukon, but two years later permanently settled at Village Creek, where the venerable and respected couple have since made their home, in the enjoyment of a competency, and amidst a large circle of devoted friends and neighbors. The venerable husband has attained his 80th year, but is hale and hearty.
They have two children - William, the well known merchant of Village Creek, and Mrs. Geo. C. Tisdale of Minneapolis. The only sister of Mrs. Brownell, a lady from New York, and Mrs. Tisdale, were called by telegraph, but the latter only was able to be present at the funeral which took place on Wednesday afternoon.
The funeral, on Wednesday afternoon, was largely attended, many being present from the neighborhood and all the surrounding towns. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Charles H. Rogers of this place. The deceased was a devout and consistent Christian, and a member of the Wesleyan Methodist church.

Note: Burial is in Village Creek cemetery per 'Woodmansee'. This should be verified. Apparently there is no gravestone for her.
