On Saturday last residents of May's Prairie and vicinity, as well as Lansing, were surprised to learn of the death of Mrs. Julia Wehinger, better known in former years as Mrs. May, a lady who, with her husband, Mr. May, and family, came to Allamakee county 25 years ago and have since made their home here.

That home is situated on one of the most beautiful tracts of land in our county and is known far and wide, as well as were the family from whom it derived its name. They came from Mogador, Summit County, Ohio.

Mrs. Wehinger was a noble helpmeet to her former, as well as her last husband, and by her shrewd and watchful care, all matters connected with the farm and other business terminated in a comfortable home, large farm and all things tending to thrift and prosperity.

The lady had been ill for about ten days, suffering from inflamation of the bowels and liver, which finally terminated in her death, as above stated. Her age was 65 years and 1 month.

The funeral took place yesterday from her late residence and was very largely attended, many of our citizens being present to pay their last respects to the departed.
