For the third time in two weeks death came to our peaceful community, this time taking another of our old and respected citizens, Peter Lee.
Mr. Lee was born at Rochester, New York, in 1870. Left an orphan at an early age, he was placed in the Catholic Protectory for Boys, from whence when nine years of age, with several others, he was brought to this parish to secure a home.
He was taken into the family of the late Chas. and Margaret Kelly and cared for as one of their own children, and grew to manhood an honest, industrious man, kind friend and neighbor.
In November 1810, he was married to Miss Kate Miles, who with one son, William, are left to mourn his loss. A daughter, Mary, preceded him in death several years ago.
Stricken with a malady that baffled all medical skill, he was a great sufferer for over a year, but bore his affliction with great fortitude, and passed away Jan. 4, 1934, comforted by the holy rites of the Catholic church.
The funeral was held Monday morning, Jan. 8, at St. Mary's Catholic church, and was attended by a large number of neighbors and friends. After Requiem Mass, celebrated by the pastor, Rev. Father Denvir, who preached a very consoling sermon, he was laid to rest in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
