DOWLING—On the 12th ult., at her residence in French Creek Township, Charity, wife of John Dowling, and daughter of Wm. Hartley, of Portland Prairie, aged 35 years, 7 months, and 6 days.
Mrs. Dowling was ill but a few days of bilious fever, but was subject to attacks of heart disease which no doubt hastened her death. She had been a resident of that section for some 25 years or more, and was well known and esteemed by all who knew her. She left no children yet the half-sisters in her youthful days and their infancy, were left to her care, and one of whom she reared to womanhood, mourn her as more than a sister, while to her husband and a large circle of relatives and friends she was endeared by many virtues and excellencies. She was a consistent member of Mount Hope Church. Her funeral was very largely attended, the services being held at the church conducted by Rev. Wm. Robinson, and her remains laid to rest in the cemetery adjoining. She sleeps in Jesus.
