Funeral Services Held For Pioneer Mother
Mrs. William Farley, 90, one of the early pioneer settlers of Allamakee county, died early last Thursday at the family home in Union Prairie township. She has been in failing health for over a year.
Deceased was born Jan. 24, 1862 on a farm in Hanover township, her maiden name being Mary Cunningham. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Cunningham, were early residents of that vicinity, and following her marriage to Wm. Farley they established their home on the farm near West Ridge where she died. Her husband preceded her in death a number of years ago. She is survived by an only daughter, Miss Florence, who resides at home who looked after her mother's welfare in her declining years. There are two sons, Emmet at home and Charles of Prairie Du Chien Wis. Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Joe Ryan of Waukon, and Sister Mary Salvius of Dubuque, and five brothers, namely: Willard and Albert both of Waukon: Jim, Prairie Du Chien, Wis: Joe of Lansford, N. D.: and George of Stansberry, Mo. There are five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The remains reposed at the Bakke and Hanson funeral parlors until Saturday morning when the funeral services were held at St. John's the Baptist Church at West Ridge. A Requiem Mass was celebrated by the pastor, the Rev. Leo Logan and interment was made in the family lot in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
