Mr. George M. Darling of Waukon, and formerly a resident of this city, died at his home in the former place on Friday morning last, of Diabetes, from which he had for some time been ailing. He was not considered dangerously ill until a few hours before his death, having the previous day been suffering no more than usual for several days past, and his death, was unlooked for.

Mr. Darling was about 32 years old, and was a second cousin of Messrs. L.E. and H.F. Fellows of this city. He came from Corinth, Vermont, to Lansing about nine years ago and lived for some years in this city, where he followed various occupations and won many friends.

Several years ago he removed to Waukon, read law with Mr. H.H. Stilwell and was, after a creditable examination, admitted to the bar. He opened an office in Waukon and pursued the practice of his profession with fair success up to the time of his death.

He leaves a wife and one infant child to mourn for him. The funeral services took place on Sunday last under the supervision of the Masonic fraternity of Waukon, of which he was a member, and was largely attended.

--- --- ---

DEATH - The serious illness of our former young townsman, George M. Darling, of Waukon, announced in our columns last week, proved fatal on Thursday, death resulting late in the afternoon.

The deceased was a well-known citizen; came to Lansing from Vermont about ten years ago, and engaged in grain buying and other business; subsequently he removed to Waukon, taking charge of Bryant & Thorp's branch shoe store, and more recently was admitted to the bar.

His age was 32 years. He was twice married, and leaves a wife and one child.

He was a beneficiary of the insurance order of United Workmen, and his family will receive $2,000 from the funds of that society.

He was of a genial, agreeable temperament, and had a large circle of friends who mourn the early taking off of one so promising and generally the picture of health.
