Anna Farley, age 89 of Lansing, IA died Tuesday morning, April 6, 2004 at Thornton Manor Nursing Home in Lansing, IA. Anna was born in Harpers Ferry, IA on April 15, 1914 to James and Mary (Shields) Kernan. She was married to Chester Farley on August 21, 1934 at Wexford Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Early in her life she and Chester farmed in the Wexford area. She later worked at the Lansing Button Factory for 25 years. During retirement Anna devoted her life to her grandchildren.
Anna is survived by five children; Janet Farley of Cedar Rapids, IA, Gerald (Beverly) Farley and Jean (Elmer) Yeoman of Lansing, IA, Judy (George) Stahl of Iowa City, IA, Donald (Barbara) Farley of DeWitt, IA, and a daughter-in-law, Ruth Farley of Lansing, IA. Anna also had nineteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, a special niece, Rita Bardon of Cuba City, WI; one brother, John Kernan of Prairie du Chien, WI.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Farley on May 10, 1988, a son, James Farley, one great grandson, Philip Hayek, six siblings, Vincent and Cyril Kernan, Katherine McMahon, Mary Cahalan, Margie May, and Amy Boardman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing with Fr. Daniel Knipper officiating. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Lansing, IA. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing where there will be a rosary recited at 3 p.m. and Parish Scripture service at 8 p.m.
Casketbears will be: Tony Farley, Mike Stahl, Duane Yeoman, Paul Farley, Dennis Farley, Matt Troendle.
