Death of Nonagenarian.
Under the above heading the Lansing Journal of last week contained the notice of death and burial of William john Dixon of Hanover township, Allamakee county, father of Wm. Dixon of Decorah. The deceased was born in County Mayo, Ireland, 98 years ago. He came to America in his young manhood, and in 1852, at Holliston, Mass. was married to Miss Ceclia Curran. They came west in 1855 and settled on a farm in Glenwood township, Winneshiek county. In 1869 Mr. Dixon moved to Hanover township, this county, where he made his home until the time of his death. His wife died in 1878 and he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Thomas Fitzgerald of Hanover township, and six sons, William of Decorah, Francis, whose whereabouts is unknown, Thomas of Eugene, Oregon; Joseph of Hanover township, James of this city and Oliver A. Steward of the County Home. Until his last sickness the infirmities of age rested lightly upon him and he was in fairly good enjoyment of all his faculties.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born in 1815 and died March 12, 1913. He is buried in the Lycurgus Cemetery
