DIES FROM INJURIES
Jacob Hangartner,whose serious injuries in a sawing machine accident we noted last week,died as result of said injuries on last Saturday afternoon following a brave fight and all that medical skill and tender care could do to stay the Grim Messenger`s Hand.
Jacob Hangartner was born in Germany, March 24,1872 and came to this country at the age of one and half years with his parents and settling at Madison,Wis.From there the family came to Iowa and settled in Ludlow Township.
November 26,1895, he was united to Miss Minnie Heckman(n),and to this union nine children were born,one child,Cleon,preceding the father in death at the age of 3 years.
He leaves to mourn,his beloved wife and eight children----Mrs Carl Luebke,Bessie,Alpha,Jacob,Oscar,Richard,Elisabeth and Isabel,one son in law Carl Luebke;his aged father Franz Hangartner of Ossian,three brothers---Conrad,Will and Frank, two sisters;Elisabeth of Chesterfield,S.D.:and Bertha Powers of Ossian,also one grandchild.
At the time of his death,Jacob Hangartner was aged 49 years,8 months and 9 days.He was an industrious,honest,hard working farmer,a good citizen,neighbor and friend,a devoted husband and a kind father,and with friends innumerable we regret his untimely passing.
The funeral was held from the family home on Tuesday afternoon,December 6,,conducted by the Rev.W.Harms of Castalia,and the large gathering of sorrowing friends who assembled to pay a farewell tribute to his memory,is the most eloquent tribute to the high character and standing of the deceased.
Interment was made in the Postville Cemetery.
