Mr. Robert Isted, one of the oldest citizens of Waukon, and a man closely identified with the growth and prosperity of that town, died at his home last Thursday night, surrounded by his large family and a number of sorrowing friends. He had been ill for two or three months past, and his death had been anticipated for some time.

His funeral took place yesterday and was the largest ever had in Waukon. The large Methodist church in that town was filled as densely as it could be crowded, and many went away, being unable to get in.

The ceremonies were conducted in accordance with the usual customs of the Masonic order, of which he was an honored member, and his remains were escorted to the church and cemetery by a large delegation from Lansing, the entire Waukon lodge, with Bro. D.W. Reed, Master, conducting the ceremonies.

He was also a member of the Odd Fellows, and at the time of his death held the honorable position of Deputy Grand Master. Lansing, Waukon, Rossville, Postville and Decorah lodges of that order were quite fully represented, and escorted their deceased brother to his last resting place, as did also the members of Waukon Grange Patrons of Husbandry, of which he was one of the charter members.

The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Mr. Rice, a Universalist minister from Strawberry Point, Iowa, and it was one of the best discourses on mortality and immortality we ever listened to.

The many noble deeds and truly upright department through life in the community in which the deceased lived made "Uncle Robert" revered and respected in the highest degree, and his many virtues stand as a monument that will long keep fresh in memory him whose form is now mouldering away to its kindred dust.

Note: Burial is in Oakland (Main) cemetery
