LOUIS HECKMAN
PASSES ON MONDAY
Louis Heckman, one of Post township`s well known and highly respected farmers,passed away at his home northeast of Postville at 2: 30 a.m. on Monday January 22, at the age of 71 years, four months and 26 days.
He was born in Westphalen, Germany,August 26,1862,and came to America with his parents in 1883 at the age of 2 years,locating in Postville.
On October 10,1893 he was united in marriage with Miss Minnie Muchow of this city. Six children were born to this union,two of whom died in infancy,those surviving being Rosina Kuenzel of Hawkeye,Lorene Heckman at home,Elmer and Arbie,both of Postville,who with the wife survive him. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren,one brother,Christ Heckman of Ossian; and two sisters,Mrs. Minnie Hangartner of Postville Junction and Mrs. Bertha Rounds of Fayette.
Upon their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Heckman located on the farm which has been their home for over forty years
Mr. Heckman was an honest and industrious man, who during his long residence in this community has won many friends who today sympathize with those who mourn.
The funeral was held from St. Paul`s Lutheran in this city at two o`clock on Wednesday afternoon,Dr. R.B.Garten officiating.Interment was made in the Postville cemetery.
