Notes:
- Mitchell co. IA Death Register: Mary Carter, age 32, housewife, DOD - 4/22/1888 at Bailey, Iowa of peritonitis, burial place [blank]
- Mary Jaquis is enumerated in Ludlow twp., Allamakee co. 1860, 1870, 1880 & 1885.
- The 1939 obituary of James Joseph Carter names his first wife as Mary Jaques [sic], who he married in 1886 & who died in 1888. She was the mother of his son Gail [Gale]
- Although the news article gives re-burial at Postville, it is very likely that she was buried in the Minert cemetery, rural Postville, aka Post twp. cemetery. Several Jaquis' are buried there, including Daniel & Margaret (her parents), Dovey M. & Margaret (Jaquis) Waters (her sisters) and her brother Benjamin.
