Opal Rademacher

Opal M. Rademacher, age 82, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, died Friday, August 5, 2005, at Thornton Manor in Lansing, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 11, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Harpers Ferry, with Fr. Louis Trzil officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Paint Rock Cemetery, Harpers Ferry. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Ann’s-St. Joseph’s Church Hall. Hanson Funeral Home of Waukon is in charge of arrangements.

Opal Marie was born August 16, 1922, in New Haven, Iowa, the daughter of William C. and Una Marie (Meyer) Spurbeck.

She married Charles William Rademacher in 1939 in Charles City, Iowa. Opal worked as a bookkeeper and the couple lived in Floyd, Charles City, and Harpers Ferry. She was a member of St. Ann’s-St. Joseph’s Church of Harpers Ferry.

Survivors include four children, Charlyne Miller of Mission, Texas, Dr. Roger Rademacher of Prairie du Chien, Wis., Sandra (Rademacher) Onken of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and William Rademacher of Rogers, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two siblings, June Rausch of Charles City and Jean Dvorak of Riceville, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, and a sister, Avis (Spurbeck) Diesburg.
