Death came to the above mentioned at his home in New Albin, Monday afternoon at 4:00 o'clock. It was the result of a paralytic stroke suffered a week before that same day while up town.

Mr. Collins was born March 23, 1871 at Lansing, Iowa, a son of Mary Wagner and John Collins. He was educated in the schools at Lansing and on June 2, 1897, in Hanover township married Anna Laura Quillin, who with six sons mourn the loss of a loving husband and father.

An only daughter preceded her father in death in infancy, and the only other close survivor is a half brother, George McGarry of LaCrosse.

The sons are Francis, Mantorville; Philip, Pine Island; Leo, Owatonna; Walter John, Blooming Prairie; Michael, Dodge Center; Cletus, Spring Valley, all in nearby sections of Minnesota. Other survivors include 9 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was a barber in New Albin for several years prior to 1921, when he moved to Lawler, where he remained until 1923, when he entered the produce business at Spring Valley, Minn., where he remained until 1934. He moved back to New Albin then and later retired, making this his permanent home. He was a public spirited man, serving as mayor of our city at the time of his death. He was member of St. Joseph's church and the Catholic Foresters.

The funeral services were held this Wednesday morning at New Albin at 9 o'clock, with Father L. Hayes singing the Mass of Requiem. Burial was made in Gethsemane cemetery at Lansing with the following long time friends serving as pall bearers: I. Imhoff, Miles Tippery, Peter Hosch, John Schulze, G. H. Welper and Simon Medicus.
