Timothy Egan

Timothy C. Egan, 64, of Waukon, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa, following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Friday, July 1, at St. Pius at Cherry Mound Catholic Church in rural Harpers Ferry, Iowa, with Fr. Louis Trzil and Fr. Bernard Grady officiating. Burial was held in the church cemetery. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon was in charge of arrangements.

Timothy Charles Egan was born June 30, 1940, on his parents’ farm in Linton Township, rural Harpers Ferry, the son of Timothy B. and Mary (Donahue) Egan. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Pius at Cherry Mound Catholic Church. Tim attended Linton No. 1 Country School and graduated from Waukon High School in 1958. He farmed the family farm in the Linton Township where he raised dairy cows and crops. He loved working with his cows. Tim moved to Waukon in 1995.

He was a member of St. Pius at Cherry Mound Catholic Church where he served on the cemetery board. Tim was a former member of Allamakee County Sportsman Club, Holstein Association, and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed coon hunting, golfing, playing cards, bowling, collecting John Deere items, and listening to country music, especially the Statler Brothers. Tim also enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include three sisters, Mary Benda of Waterville, and Helen (Vernis) Haberichter and Rose Ella Valley, both of Waukon; a sister-in-law, Myrtle Egan of Harpers Ferry; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Johnnie; a sister, Catherine Ferring; and three brothers-in-law, Lawrence Benda, Paul Ferring, and Harold Valley.

Honorary casketbearers were Tim’s nieces and nephews. Casketbearers were John and Pat Egan, Lawrence Benda, Pat Ferring, Tom and Rich Haberichter, and Tim and Kevin Valley.
