_________________Funeral services were held Saturday, April 20 for John P. Blake, 76, who died April 18 at Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse. The 11 A.M. services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hanover, where he was a member. Conducting the services were the Rev. Henry Charipar, The Rev. Ed. Lechtenberg, the Rev. John moser, the Rev. Vincent Simon, and the Rev. Marv Salz. Burial was in the church cemetery at Hanover with Hanson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Born July 16, 1914 in Dorchester, he was the son of John W. and Mary McKenna Blake. Aug. 11, 1942 he and Mary Hammell were married at St. Joseph's in New Albin. He was a farmer and had lived all his life in the Dorchester-Hanover area.
Surviving are his wife; seven daughters, Mary Therese Klauke of Dorchester, Betty Regan, Bonnie Sweeney and Cathy Wadsworth of Waukon, Carol Hotch of Center Point, Donna Cummings of Mechanicsville, and Julie Phillips of Omaha, NE., and six sons, Jim of Oakland, FL, John Joe of Dorchester, Jerry and Francis of Waukon, Con of Minneapolis, MN and Dan of Prairie du Chien, WI. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren and five sisters, Marie Schulte and Julia Mauss of Waukon, Frances Blake of Lemoore, CA, Helen White of Denver, CO, and Beatrice Mauss of New Albin.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Jim and Pat and three sisters, Patricia Byrnes, Marguerite Larson and Betty Hegeman.
Casket bearers were Ed Blake, Frank Byrnes, Ted Hammell, Jim Hegeman, Kenneth Larson, Jerry Mauss and Ron Troendle.
