DOUGHERTY - At a hospital in Chicago, Ill., Saturday, October 8, 1894, Mr. James Dougherty, aged 70 years.

James Dougherty was born in Donegal County, Ireland. He came to America in 1850, and worked at his trade of stone mason until he settled on his farm in French Creek in 1862. He went to Chicago almost two weeks since for treatment, where he died Saturday.

He was twice married, the last time in 1876 in Philadelphia, and leaves a wife and seven children. His eldest son, John F., is a member of the well-known firm of Helming & Dougherty of this city. His second son James is doing an extensive business in farm machinery and farm lands in Park River, N. D. The remaining children are Mary A., wife of T. J. Kelleher, Ella, Sarah, Michael, and Maggie, the four latter now reside on the farm. The funeral was held on Tuesday.
