Mr. & Mrs. WILLIAM (Stella J. Stahl) BEALL - died 1950

The deaths Friday of Mr. and Mrs. William Beall, who farmed 10 miles east of Frankville on Highway 52, were termed "murder and suicide" by Allamakee County Deputy Sheriff W. R. Ryan. Ryan said William Beall shot his wife and then himself. Both were about 60 years old. No inquest will be held in the deaths. Ryan said he received a telephone call Friday morning about 8:30 a.m. from Beall asking that officers come immediately to the Beall farm as there had been a "double murder."

Ryan, Coroner L. R. Patemen, and County Attorney Will Shafer went to the farm and found Mrs. Beall on the floor and Beall across the bed. Both had been shot with a .410 shotgun.

Mrs. William (Stella Josephine Stahl) Beall

Following is the obituary of Mrs. William Beall, who passed away February 10, 1950. Stella Josephine, youngest daughter of Myron E. and Mary A. Stahl, was born in Ludlow township, Allamakee county, on February 24, 1883, and departed this life on February 10, 1950, aged 67.

All her life was spent in Allamakee county except a few months when away at school. About 1910, after her father passed away, she and her mother came to Waukon to live, and soon after she became a member of the Methodist Church. She spent many years as a teacher, afterward devoting her time to the care of her aged mother, who passed away in 1932. In that same year she was united in marriage to William Beall, and spent the last 18 years of her life, on the farm in Jefferson Township.

Surviving her are three sisters, Mrs. T. P. Bollman of Basin, Wyoming, Mrs. Carrie Brooks, and Mrs. John Palmer, both of Waukon, a cousin G. W. Stahl of Rossville, a number of nieces and nephews.
