Funeral services were held Friday, October 7, at 11:00 a.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville Tuesday, October 4, 1977. The Rev. Norris C. Swenson officiated.
Born April 25, 1885 in Charlottenhof, Germany, Edith Ida Marie was the daughter of Carl and Louisa Michael Miller. At the age of three, together with her parents and two older brother, Henry and August, she emigrated from Germany settling in the rural Postville area, where four sisters and two more brothers were born. She attended the German school and was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, March 26, 1889 having been baptized as an infant in Germany.
December 21, 1905, she was married to Frank Loren Bellows and they resided in North Dakota but returned to Postville, remaining in the area until 1919 when they moved to Dubuque. They returned again to Postville in 1968 and rejoined St. Paul Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Henry, August, Louis and William and three of her sisters, Mrs. Howard (Augusta) Wykoff, Mrs. Clarence (Amanda) Smith and Mrs. John (Bertha) Gregg.
Survivors include her husband, Frank and her daughter, Opal Klinger, both of Postville; a sister, Mrs. Wilbert (Anna) Wilke; three grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
